The waterfall «Voyevodyn»
As part of the national program "Behold the beauty of Transcarpathia until it is not finally spoiled" we went in search of the waterfall "
Voyevodyn". There was not a clear description of how to get to it in the Internet. However, tooled up by GPS and "kilometer" maps of Turya Remeta surburbs which were made by the "general staff" in 1990 and in slightly adventurous mood we recovered to look for this attraction
We passed
Turya Polyana, due to GPS we correctly chose the turn in the center of the village, passed places for rest outside the village on the bank of the creek (a very posh place for picnics, though it is far away), passed a trout pond. All was lovely and lovingly, the asphalt was wonderful, and that's just beyond the trout pond the happiness of motor-car enthusiast suddenly ended. Rather nasty way began. It was narrow, winding in the wood twilight, with deep pits. Average speed was 5 km per an hour, and then is reduced to 1 km per an hour. Passing a few kilometers through this mayhem, hitting by protection the edge of the next pit, we decided to leave the car into the first cuttings of the road and go on foot. We passed another two kilometers, and again, due to GPS we chose the correct turn along the stream "Voyevodyn". A kilometer ascent and the hunting country seat "Shypot" appeared on the trail; a cool area, bungalows, grazing horses, tourists freely lying in hammocks, a thick watchdog fins at the feet. We made a sharp turn to the left near the sadyba – we went on - the road was quite decent, ended abruptly by a wide pedestrian path on which riders sometimes rode.
In summary, from the point of the creek "Voyevodyn" inflowing in the river "
Shypot" to the waterfall "Voyevodyn" – approximately 4 kilometers of fairly gentle ascent. To tell the truth, had visited already a sufficient number of Carpathian waterfalls, I expected something grand ... and when I saw the waterfall "Voyevodyn," I was even upset a little. Below, it is probably the best view that somehow hides negative elements.
There is a picnic area on each side of the waterfall - many drunken men and women slept right under the tables with empty bottles of vodka. Paper, bottles and other signs of human life. A bridge thrown across the creek leads in the "picnic area”.
But this was not the saddest thing. As we were told by old-timers earlier the stream had rushed down through the "left channel" that had made the flow more beautiful and the scene fascinating. It is a natural nozzle forming a stream of "left channel" in the photo below.
Now, nature has disposed that the fall dashes down from the right channel, which is wider, but, nevertheless, forms a less pretty scene. Among other things, at the foot of the waterfall, half a dozen logs were discovered that just fell in the "big water" from the top and jammed between the stones at the bottom.
On one of the photos a stuck log in the "old line" can be even seen, and in a "new channel" a lot of thinner branches stick right out of the water flow.
When you stand over the waterfall and look out along the creek – it is not a quite bad scene – it is not visible picnics, drift wood and debris.
There are some bizarre crevices on each side of the fall.
We walked around the fall, looked at drunken faces, checked the map and decided to go up to Polonyna Rivna, which, as indicated by GPS, is situated 2 or 3 miles to the north from the fall. In addition, according to information from the Internet, a famous tourist route in the form of trails and marks on trees leads to Polonyna. We moved. At first everything was good - wide trail, creek with gorgeous views.
Then the trail turned bad, then it became to disappear in the blueberry bushes, and then it was completely lost. When the speed of our movement dropped to 10 meters in 5 minutes, we checked with a map, and noticed that the ascent would continue to increase, and the stream bed seriously moved us to the mountain
Menchul (1294 m. above see level), decided not to allow further nettles burn legs and sweat corrode eyes and we turned back. And we did correctly. Later I read in several forums that the path had been «lost" a dozen years before. It is, of course, possible to pass but it does not add buzz to life.
We bathed in the icy creek, sauntered out to the car. Totally we passed about 14 miles away for half a day. We got in the car, suffered pits a little, and we were in Uzhhorod in 40 minutes.
It was the first time while using GPS actively I really felt its help. Generally speaking it guided us in correct direction 10 times right from the points at which the error in the selection of the route was not acceptable.
In spite of all negative elements - I recommend to visit the waterfall "Voyevodyn" to all. It is gorgeous nature, air, views.
