The castle of Serednee
This castle was built in the XII century in the area where the village of the Serednye is now located. According to one version castle was erected by the representatives of the strongest catholic order of the Templers at the time. After the order ceased existing in 1312, the castle was transferred over to the monks of the St. Paul’s order. The castle suffered significant damage during the liberation War of the Hungarian people in the 1703-1711. The contemporary historians who study the castle are inclined to consider it as the oldest castle of the Transcarpatia based on how the stoned walls are constructed.
The castle is found in the swampy terrain in the middle of the village. There’re quite a few weeds found both inside and outside the castle. It’s probably, the most favourite hang out spot among the local youth.
By the way, not too many people may realize this, but the hill found next to the castle, which happens to host an active cemetery of the Serednye village, actually used to be home to the church, which was part of the castle.

Another view at the castle
This is the furthermost wall of the castle. I’d say it’s the place most infested with the garbage & the weeds.
