A memorial Park in Perechyn. Part One.
Perechyn (Hung.
Perecseny, Slovak.
Perečany, Czech.
Perečín, German.
Peretschyn, Polish.
Pereczyn, Romanian.
Perecin) is a small town, the regional center, located 22 km from Uzhhorod. According to words of some historians, Perechyn was firstly mentioned in historical documents in 1266, although others believe that the date of its founding is 1427, citing a reference in 1399 (as a settlement) in the records of dominant Drugets. In the opinion of Soviet historians, the founding date of Perechyn assumed in 1947. It was granted the town status in 2004 (formerly it was the village and the urban settlement). Its population is about 7,000 people. The huge wood chemical plant built in the late 19th century is the only significant object of the village. Once there were a few mills and factories, but now they are either in decline or have been closed at all. There is railway and bus station in Perechyn and the river Uzh flows by them.
If you do not focus on the road and don’t look around, passing a large village called Perechyn, one can easily observe a memorial park at the road not far from the center and there is a small cannon in the center of it. This park was opened in 1947 and it is a military cemetery + memorial in honor of the release of Perechyn from Nazis. Not so long ago a small monument to the soldiers - internationalists and a large wooden cross were set up in the park, the memorial plaque in honor of the nameless soldiers was fastened to the main monument in 2005, whose remains are buried in the cemetery. By the way, there is another memorial obelisk in honor of the events of that time in the town. It is located in another part of the town. It was built in 1965.
Actually, as weapons and the monument made of very unusual and not typical for that time project present the tourist interest.
A small hill is made in the center of the park; a pyramid-shaped structure made of dark stone is on it. There is a monument of rectangular shape with a commemorative inscription on it and a big red star on the top. Two orders are secured on the sides of the monument. The first is the
Order of Red Banner (
the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of the "Red Flag"). It was established to honor a special courage, selflessness and courage in defending the socialist fatherland. The second is the
Order of the Patriotic War. This order was awarded to soldiers and officers of the Red Army, the Navy the NKVD and guerrilla groups who showed courage, fortitude and bravery, fighting for the Soviet Motherland, whose actions contributed to the success of military operations of our forces. Ammunition is installed at each tier of the pyramid structure on both sides of the main element of the monument. Totally there are eight pieces. Arches are organized in front and rear part of the dark stone monument, edged with arched construction of white stones. There are also memorable characters inside the arches. A small stone staircase leads to the Monument from the base of the hill.
This is how the monument looks like from another perspective. The Order of the Patriotic War and the post with the national flag can be observed.
This is rear view. The posterior arch of the monument grounds is clearly visible. By the way, the inscription is made with tinted plaster on it. Either it is the traces of vandalism, or the monument gradually declines. Huge cracks between the dark stones of pyramidal structure tell about it.
The only surviving fragment of an inscription in the arch ... The rest is painted with plaster.
And this is a star on the top of the monument. And sprouting weeds is near by.
Examining the monument, by chance I noticed the "signature of the architect." At one of the dark stones the following was carved "
It was built by the project of the engineer and captain Yusov S.A. a/h 04 180".
That's a sign attached to the front of the monument in the 2005's.
There is a military cemetery just beyond the monument. The back of each tombstone is with a number, daubed with oil paint. For what reason this was done, I personally do not understand.
There is the monument to the soldiers-internationalists (wreaths under a stone with the inscription) on the right of military cemetery. There is a water engineering structure with distributed under the ground (falling through much of the soil) system of canals and reservoirs on the right in the background. Do not be surprised if this is a reservoir for fire trucks.
