The castle of Khust

To tell the truth, I’ve expected more from a trip to Khust Castle. Yes, the mountain on which the castle was built, of course, is unique - a stone tit in the gully with a bunch of guns - a powerful argument in the control of territory. The castle is very overgrown with all kinds of vegetation. Trees, shrubs, vines hanging down are everywhere. Narrow paths with two-meter nettles, piles of poop on trails and crowds of youth people canoodling in nooks…

The square of four monuments in the village of Dovhe

The uniqueness of the square in the center of the village of Dovhe, of Irshava district, lies in the fact that simultaneously four monuments were set, and, they are completely different in its significance. Two of them do not represent any historical value, but they are traditional for Transcarpathian villages, religious: a statue of the Virgin Mary and a cross with crucified Jesus. They were installed in one of the corners of a small square. But basic memorial elements are two. The first is a monument to the Liberator Soldier. It is with the helmet in his hand and machine gun behind his back. He is in the tunic with medals on his chest and a cape on his back. It stands on a pedestal. His face is turned to six graves of those who were killed in the battle for the village. There is a memorial plaque on the right. Judging by the abundance of wreaths and flowers (the visit took place in the mid of October) - somebody cares about the memory of the liberators.

Borzhava narrow-gauge railway. Part One.

At the invitation of the organizers of the festival in honor of the 100th anniversary of Borzhava narrow gauge railway, known popularly as "Kushnytska Antsya" (Ukr), we went with like-minded people in the old locomotive depot of the town Berehovo, where the one of its last points was situated.
