Water Mill in the village Lipovec. Part Two.
It is the continuation of the article about the water mill in village
Lipovec (ua:
Липовець) Hust district. It starts
here.
The water wheel is one of the main elements of the mill. The forged metal rims keep the wood pieces together at one place where the axis is attached with an improvised bearing.
Alexei noticed that I understood all the mechanical components of the mill and he tried to retell me in details all the nuances of the structure of this unit.
And this is a circular saw. As I have already said, it is also driver by the power of the water.
This is an old "washing machine", not being used for a long time now...
An old water wheel was at the wall of the shed in which the mill was standing...
And these piles of metal are "spare parts" for the mill which I wouldn’t notice if they don’t tell me. A talented blacksmith can do anything you want with it. An alternative title of this photo is "The dream of an Uzhhorod gypsy".
And this is a smithy. There is a stove on the left and a fur on the right. It must be pushed on that tool below with the help of the foot and then hand. Flywheel in the background still helps. As a result, due to the air, which is blowing into the coals, the temperature increases significantly?
All the process happens here...
The water comes by the gutter on the right. The flap determines where it has to turn next to the left to the mill or to the right through the area.
The view of the "left" gutter from the top point...
Thank you, Alexei, for a fascinating tour. May God grant you eternal health!
