Women’s Monastery of Kopashnevo. Part Two.
This is the second part of the story about trip to the monastery in Polyana, which is in close proximity to
Kopashnevo of the Hust region. Part One.
Some construction materials for the church can be seen at the front, the veggies can be seen growing behind them and at the back lies the old cemetery.
This is the view at the soon to be completed church of Saint John the Theologist, the main church of the monastery. Again, some signs of nuns’ farming are seen right at the front. Quite frankly, I don’t think they could have found a worse spot to plant these as the beans seem to be growing right above the old graves. This is quite messed up.
We also happened to witness the service which was happening near the church.
This is actually the bell near the small oratory. Looks like it could have been made out of the old liquid nitrogen tank.
This is the plumbing system, which serves the church. As far as I could understand, the water is taken either directly from the spring or is being collected in a tank a bit further up the hill. Perhaps, from around the cemetery again?! The location of the pipes definitely supports this assumption.
Even the rain water finds use in the monastery.
Check out the awesome set of sledges found just outside of the church property.
Taking another look at the property before leaving
This is about half a klick away from the monastery. This road is great if you’ve got a 4X4 but I wouldn’t risk taking my rear wheel drive sedan on it. The road leads all the way to the village of Dragovo, which is just over the hill. I would actually suggest visiting the monastery from this side as it’s a lot easier.
