Komsomolske Lake
In the framework of youth nostalgic program «
Komsomol - we were so young», the other day we went to
Komsomolske Lake. How many years have passed, and this route has not lost its popularity among both youth and adult tourists
At one time, the centers of the Soviet-tourist youth pilgrimage to the western part of the Carpathians, no doubt, were the hostel "
Verkhovyna" (near Nevytskyy castle) and the hostel "
Polonyna" (
v. Lumshory). It is from "Polonyna" a walking and tourist route to Komsomolske lake originates. The old name -
Vel.Trustsya (sometimes it is called "
Rustya"). By the way, in fact, exactly the route to
Polonyna Rivna ("
Runa") also passes through Komsomolske Lake, bypassing it on the left.
The lake is at the altitude 840 meters above sea level, a camp "Polonyna" - 500, Polonyna Rivna - 1480 meters at the highest point, and 1,140 meters at the beginning, where the road goes on it.
The last time I was on the lake very long time ago. Well, so 10-12 years ago. However, every time when I see it, something is compressing in the chest. It's all the same. It has its special charm. It is overgrown with weeds, with ash trees on the banks, with the source of hydrogen sulfide in the mouth…
…horrible stinky with black clay.
There are still a few houses for tourists on the hill. The left one is the traditional "camp fire", the other two on the right - suitable for settlements, especially in rainy weather. There is a house for firewood at the edge, and there is a spring by it, at 50 meters in the woods.
Here are just an "arbor for alternative-minded young people with a travel bias to watch the moon" has undergone major changes. However, it is the top of forethought. Involuntarily, I stood and admired the incline of the back, the location of counterweights; the design of a stand for vodka, the presence of a small branch of a large fire... A-a-a-a-ah... it is a pleasure... Nostalgia was dripping out of my ears.
Everything is traditionally blackened by smoke in the campfire house.
When we went up we were caught in the terrible rain. I got sousing for 5 minutes, not managing to run to the edge of next glade. A vaunted "Columbia" did not stand the test. But my new backpack, or rather its insides were perfectly dry. All these were at + 10 degrees near the camping in the village of Lumshory and +7 degrees near Komsomolske Lake. I walked, got sousing, cussed out but did not turn back... and met three metalists near the house on the lake; they were wearing T-shirts with the words "Cradle of Faiths" and "Burzum". The guys, who had come here to the lake for the fifth time, were from Kiev, treated tea to cold tourists. When they poured drink into a cup, one of them smiled and said cryptically, "Only our tea is not simple". "Oh, thank you, I do not experiment with drugs," said I sharply. "No, you’ve misunderstood us" answered the guys, "we have tea with the Icelandic moss, it is very healthy, and rhinitis and bronchitis are cured". I came into the side, asked Yandex what is
Icelandic moss, and I was convinced that it was indeed a very strong immune stimulant, and drank two cups of hot tea in one gulp. You may not believe it, but in 10 minutes I felt serious improvement in the respiratory tracts. Snot poured hail and abruptly ended completely, my throat became totally clear, even the mood was up. The guys kindly showed me how to gather this moss, lamented the fact that there was not that moss in their territories, and it was the Carpathians nearest territory where the moss grew, full of all sorts of differences and goodies for them. I took a sample of moss, brought it back to Uzhhorod, and checked the determinant. Everything coincided. Now I know how it works and how to gather it. By the way, during the times of famine, Carpathian people survived due to the Icelandic moss broth using sheep milk.

What I can say about the route... Perfect! It is deal for rest with family. For everything, together with the way and tea, a walk around the lake and taking pictures, the route took the time... 3 hours. The length of the route is 9 km. It is 48 km from Uzhhorod to Lumshory. It is highly recommended to all categories of the population.
