Wine tasting in the village Kidyosh
Not for hangover but for gourmet delights to local lore, we went on a visit to the village
Kidyosh (
formerly Zmіivka), situated near the town of Berehovo. We recovered at the invitation of the winemaker family Shosh (it is translated from Hungarian as "
Eagle"), who has won this year's grand prize at the regional wine festival in the town of Mukachevo.
Actually, it was not just a tasting but a field meeting of winemakers club, after which actually the tasting took place. While bellied men-winemakers were arguing, and sometimes even swearing in the next room, we actively shinned up the cellars and territories to satisfy our photo addiction looking for more and more camera angles. To tell the truth, at first I did not particularly like everything that occurred. They were there, we were here. Somebody was swearing, somebody was waiting for someone. Winemakers went out to smoke one by one commenting things occurring inside. Everyone, for some reason decided that I was "the most important journalist", told me something for a long time and then made a pause looking in my eyes for a long time and asked from what newspaper I was. Then, when the official part was over the owner invited us to try the wine, the most pleasant and interesting things began. And in few hours, when the tasting was ended, I went to the car in just amazing mood and impressed by what had been seen and heard. So, we begin in course.
Such a blazon hangs at the entrance to the tasting cellar.
Here is one of the cellars connected with the tasting cellar by a spacious vestibule. It's damp, dark, flame glow of candles on the walls.
There is such beauty on sides of the concrete track.
Somehow it was not an old man standing with a rifle on guard of wine barrels but a mustached man with a paddle and a glass.
And these are folk personal belongings which are used in treating grapes.
It is a sophisticated design element of chopper.
Here is still life. Two green bottles and a bird.
"A woman furious is seen at the broken vitrine”…
The pride of Uzhhorod winemaking is on the left. The pride of Berehovo winemaking is on the right.
And here is, personally, the winemaker
Karl Shosh in the dark of the tasting cellar in "in wine bottling".
And now, Karl Karlovych performs the duties of butler. This glass piece is used for "pulling" of wine from the barrel by the rules, but not as it is often done - with a rubber tube.
Two winemakers. "Tell me, my dear friend, and what such a special is added to Zhuzhika?"… Zhuzhika is a very tasty sort of dessert wine, named after the wife of the winemaker.
And tired of bickering, winemakers of Beregovo region made noise at the other end of the table…
In fact, in one session, we tasted many sorts of good wine. There was a very competent starter to interrupt the taste on the table. I would like to mention the taste of such wines as «
Troyanda Zakarpattya» (en. The Rose of Transcarpathia) - I liked this wine the most. It is made from grapes «
Traminer» adding «
Muscat».
One liter of this sort wine costs
120 hryvnya at wine festivals, and at the say time they say that the latest qualitative harvest of "Traminer" was back in 1985. We asked the local winemakers whether it was true. They smiled and said many terms. In the end, it came down to the realization that it's more an advertising gimmick than a sad fact. The dessert wine «
Zhuzhika» from the grape sort «
Chasselas» was in the second place in my personal ranking. «
The Black Rose» (with the addition of prunes) - very similar to the "Cahor" took the third place. I would like to mention the wine «
Bokotor», produced from grapes of the same kind from the dry and semisweet wines. The uniqueness of wine is that grape of Bokotor sort disappeared even from the territory of Hungary. Some plantations of this sort has remained near the town Berehovo. And that's all. The wine «
Holubka» (en. Dove) had an interesting bouquet, the dry wine «
Mushkotaya» had a classical taste, «
Royal Leanka» was unusual, and the dessert «
Mushkotay» also was good. I would like to mention the hospitality of the host, Mr. Shosh. Everything was very well.
