The village of Bukovtsevo. Part two.
The second part of the note on the visit of the village Bukovtsevo. The first part –
here.
It is a nice view. The church toilette is in the foreground and the Village Council - in the background.
There are several old graves on the territory. Here is an example.
Here is a fancy performance of light and shadow on the wall of the belfry.
And this is, in fact, the Church of St. Anne. It was rebuilt in 1792. It is a wonderful church. It is one of the best that I have ever seen in Transcarpathia. It is very quiet and calm here, that you do not want to leave. You sit on a bench and listen to the sound of silence. This idyll was destroyed by a peasant woman, marching through the territory of church to her house. She had a small bottle of hooch in her pocket, "Polyana kvasova" - in her left hand; a clear bag with 150 grams of sardines floating in preservative fluid of black color - in the right hand. She stopped near us and tirelessly talked with us about 15 minutes, telling about all the latest gossips of the village. At the end of her monologue, she reported that a temple rejoicing day in their church - "Elijah’s Day".
Then she told the verse about Elijah, and wept, lamenting about the fate of a martyr. It was very interesting to learn that the service runs at their church every three weeks, because the priest maintains 3 churches (in Bukovtsevo, in Smerekovo and in Chornoholovo). Morning service is hold by a clerk every morning.
This is a plate on the right of the entrance to the church. I take pleasure in seeing the following...
It is the cross over the belfry. It is just an interesting foreshortening.
And these are the bronze bells in the belfry, which was opened; it is a usual thing in the mountain churches.
And this is another demonstration of the membership of the church to the mountain village. Half of the church property is freely available in the belfry. We specially held the survey, visiting some churches during the day - the closer the church is to the civilization; the more locks and less wealth is in sight.
I liked Bukovtsevo very much. Silence, the abundance of oxygen, no people, disrepair, spirituality outside the church. If it is possible I will stop off here more often.
